Adding an event
University of Michigan affiliated arts events taking place during October 2026 may be submitted for inclusion in the festival calendar. Submitters must have a U-M uniqname.
Use the Happening@Michigan Calendar
To display on the festival calendar your Happening event must use keyword “Michigan Arts Festival”
Detailed Steps:
Use this option if:
You have posted to the Happening@Michigan calendar previously
Your uniqname is affiliated with an authorized group account

Go to events.umich.edu/manage/event/new and sign in with your U-M credentials.
Follow the prompts to create your event.
On the Keywords tab:
Type Michigan Arts Festival in the search box
Click the large + button
If prompted, click Use Custom Keyword.
Continue to follow the steps to publish your event.
Your event should populate on the festival calendar page within 10-15 minutes.

Go to events.umich.edu/me and sign in with your U-M credentials
Find the event you’d like to add and click the Edit Event button on the right side of the listing.
On the Keywords tab:
Type Michigan Arts Festival in the search box
Click the large + button
If prompted, click Use Custom Keyword.
Your published event listing should update automatically when you proceed to the next tab.
Your event should populate on the festival calendar page within 10-15 minutes.
Use the arts.umich.edu calendar form
This calendar does NOT post back to the Happening@Michigan calendar. Events posted using this form will only appear on arts.umich.edu calendars.
Detailed Steps:

If you already added your event to the Happening@Michigan calendar, but you are unable to use the “Michigan Arts Festival” keyword, or the event is otherwise not appearing:
Enter your contact information
Paste your Happening@Michigan event’s URL into the Calendar Link box.
All other fields will disappear and you may proceed with calendar selection
Upon submission you will receive an email with your entry and a link to edit
Posts may take up to an hour to appear depending on site-traffic.
Posts in violation of Calendar or University terms will be removed.

If you already added your event to the Happening@Michigan calendar, but you are unable to use the “Michigan Arts Festival” keyword, or the event is otherwise not appearing:
