Nurturing Natives- Western Moose

An illustration of a large brown western moose sits in a brown and snowy winter landscape with large antlers.

The western moose is commonly found throughout Canada and the American Rockies, but it can also be found in the western and eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan! These mighty mammals range from 5-7 feet tall, and can weigh up to- and sometimes over, 1,500 pounds! Despite their sometimes threatening appearance, these animals are completely herbivores, and even fall prey to wolves and black bears. Believe it or not, but western moose will also swim for miles at a time at a pace of 6 miles an hour!
