Nurturing Natives- Lake Sturgeon

Grey lake sturgeon sits on sparkly blue water background

The lake sturgeon, found throughout the Great Lakes can live for up to 150 years and can reach up to 300 pounds! In fact, they’re prehistoric and are one of the oldest species still found in the Great Lakes today. While these creatures are incredible fascinating and beautiful, only around 1% of their historic population remain due to climate change and overfishing. While they are not listed as critically endangered, they’re still a species of great concern that need more recognition.
