“Trail” by Safiya Tukurah

Campus can be a busy and sometimes overwhelming place during the school year. Because of this, I’ve found it super important to find places on campus where I can get away from the noise and have some time in nature. Safiya Tukurah’s Trail captured my attention for this reason.

The artist's note reads “Whenever I’m tired of being around everything regarding school and work, I go to Gallup Park, it’s quiet and is where all the pretty birds go.” I, too, have found peace in the nature of Gallup Park. Walking around the park, listening to the birds chirp and the river flow is a very peaceful and healing feeling - one that I’ve found at Gallup, Argo, and The Arb, along with many other places around town. Finding time during stressful moments to lose myself in nature and forget about responsibilities has always helped me.
