Nurturing Natives (FINAL EDITION)- Wild Indigo
Not all indigo plants are “indigo”, in fact, they come in a range of white, yellow, blue, and deep purple! Species like white false indigo, cream wild indigo, and wild blue indigo can be found throughout Michigan and can grow to a lovely six feet tall! These plants have a long blooming period and help fight erosion and droughts with their long taproots that reach deep underground. Look for these stunning species in prairies and around sandy soils.
P.s.
Congrats Wolverines on finishing your semesters strong! For this week- and my final week- I chose an amazing plant that highlights our maize and blue! Remember to plant native, advocate for the environment, and love the world around you!
