“Law Quad” by Emma Ostermeyer

Captured here by Emma Ostermeyer, the Law Quad is one of the most iconic spots on campus. When prospective students take their campus tours here at U of M, the Law Quad stop is the one sure to take the students’ and families’ breath away. The vastness of the architecture on the outside of the Quad and the inside of the Law Library were the highlights of my own campus tour experience several years ago.
The Law Quad is a Hogwarts-esque architectural masterpiece, but it is also a favorite spot for students on campus. Ostermeyer writes that the Quad is “one of the best places to visit on Central Campus when the weather is warm”, and mentions picnicking with friends there. I too have many great memories in the warm weather of the Law Quad: studying while basking in the sun, throwing around a football or Frisbee with friends, and making snow angels in the winter. Of course, this is the most iconic spot for graduating students to get graduation photos as well. The Law Quad is the place where many students start and end our UMich experiences from orientation to graduation, but it has much to offer in the in-between as well.
The “My Corner of Campus” exhibition features student artwork that highlights favorite spots in town and across the University. View Law Quad, and many more student works on the first floor of the Michigan Union, across from the info desk through September 18th.
