A2SF Announces Community Keys in Partnership with U-M Arts Initiative
The Ann Arbor Summer Festival (A2SF) announces Community Keys in partnership with the University of Michigan Arts Initiative. Current U-M students and graduates will decoratively paint three pianos presented in locations throughout Ann Arbor from May 1-June 21. On June 21, the pianos will appear at Top of the Park as a finale for a Make Music Day community concert.
Mural project offers arts access to science students
A unique collaboration between students, faculty and local artists is bringing a vibrant mural related to the field of nuclear engineering to the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus this spring.
The interdisciplinary mural project was sparked by U-M faculty and graduate students in the sciences seeking creative, hands-on art-making outlets beyond their research.
Transforming trauma into healing power through the arts

OVPR, Arts Initiative grants awarded to 14 research teams
The Arts Research: Incubation & Acceleration grant program and the Creativity Lab research development program have awarded their first round of funding to support innovative projects that center the arts in research and creative practice.
ARIA and C-lab were formed and funded in a joint effort between the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Arts Initiative.
School of Social Work to host featured artist residency
The School of Social Work, in partnership with the U-M Arts Initiative, has announced the selection of the Pan-African Creative Exchange as the featured artist residency for 2024.
This is the first artist residency at SSW and the second iteration of the Arts Initiative’s Visiting Artist Integration Program, designed to infuse the University of Michigan’s engagement and learning processes with the dynamic creativity of artists.
