Updating
the Directory

Adding a new org

First visit the directory to make sure your organization is not already listed.

Go to the Directory Update form.

Note: The questions are revealed in stages.

Step 1. Basic Info (required)

  • Your Email
    Enter your @umich.edu email address. This is for us to contact you in case we need clarification. You will be asked for your organization’s email address in a later step.

  • Select Add New Org

  • Select Your Campus

  • Organization Name
    Enter your organization's name exactly as you'd like it displayed. This is how it will appear in search results and on your org’s listing.

  • Describe Your Organization
    What do you do? What kind of events do you have?
    You may use basic HTML to style this section.

  • Bold text using <b>
    <b>This text is bold</b>

    Italicize text with <i>
    <i>This text is italic.</i>

    Define a paragraph with <p>

    <p>This is a paragraph.</p>

    <p>This is another paragraph.</p>

  • Organization Email
    Tip: Use an MCommunity Group email rather than your personal email. This aids in an organization's longevity as members graduate.

Update an existing org

Step 1A. Find your org’s Update Page

  1. Visit the Directory and find your organization’s page.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of your page and click on the Update Page button.

From here you will see and can update the information currently displayed on your organization’s page.

Whatever you submit through this form will overwrite your current page.
To keep your current information, leave that section as it is.

  • Edit Name?
    If you would like to change your organization’s displayed name you may enter a new name in this field.

Step 2. Categories

Select up to three categories that best fit your organization. These are used when filtering the directory.

Step 3. Optional Information

The following sections are optional. Any fields left blank will be hidden on your page.

Websites

Embedded Feeds

  • Add your username. Do not include @ before the name. Do not use a url. Your Instagram feed will be embedded on your organization’s page.

    Instagram feed not appearing?
    To allow Instagram feed embeds on websites, you must have a public account and enable "Website embeds" in your app settings under Settings > Sharing and reuse > Website embeds.

Embed a Video

  • Links must be from YouTube

  • Videos must be publicly available & embeddable

  • Copy the full URL from the address bar (do not use the Share button)

  • Include https://

Step 4. Logo & Banner

The upload window will automatically crop your images to the correct display sizes. Use the tools to adjust the cropping, rotate, sharpen, or enhance your images before hitting the Add button.

  • Logo: 600 x 600px
    Displayed as a circle.

  • Banner: 2000 × 500px

Be sure each upload window is closed and you see your file name and size displayed before submitting the form.

No images to upload? Your page will display the default logo and/or banner.

Step 5. Submit Form

All submissions will be reviewed by Arts Initiative staff prior to publication.
