Bill Barrett (MFA 1960)
2002; Bronze; Sculpture
Central Campus; Along sidewalk on the west side of School of Social Work
Commissioned by the School of Social Work and made possible by the generosity of the artist and the estate of Clinton E. and Dorothy Purdy. Barrett, a University of Michigan alumnus, says “his work communicates his internal feelings, rather than commenting on social issues,” because “art is communication between people.” Barrett is also the sculptor of the Tooth Fairy, located on Central Campus, and both Painted Steel and Untitled #29 on North Campus.
