In celebration of the University of Michigan’s Bicentennial, the U-M Library partnered with the national oral history organization StoryCorps to record and preserve stories from our community. During the Fall Festival Bicentennial Celebration, participants had conversations with friends, classmates, family members and colleagues about meaningful experiences at U-M. These stories, presented and curated by the U-M Library in collaboration with StoryCorps, capture the essence of the U-M’s past and present.

Interview No. 1: Ari Weinzweig & Julie Herrada

Friends Ari Weinzweig and Julie Herrada talk about anarchism and how it relates to building better and more equitable business models. Weinzweig is a U-M grad, author and co-founder of Zingerman’s Deli and Roadhouse and Zingerman’s community of businesses in Ann Arbor, MI. Herrada is curator of the U-M Library’s Labadie Collection that documents social protest movements. Weinzweig starts by remembering his time researching the collection at the library as a student, and again years later during his time as a business owner.
