Many of the museums, galleries and performance venues at the University of Michigan are reopening while others remain closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. This week, enjoy the following selection of events, exhibitions, performances, and films—most remain virtual, while some can now be enjoyed safely in-person:
Musicians, actors, artists, and institutions have had their ability to practice, perform and exhibit severely impeded by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, many have developed creative ways to stay active with their craft and engage the community. Join us for an interactive discussion via Zoom of the various ways artists and institutions in the Detroit area have persevered and even thrived during the COVID-19 pandemic. This Town Hall will focus on the Performing Arts.

This summer, the Penny Stamps Speaker Series will be airing selections from the 2020–2021 series along with some favorites from years past. Tune in to hear Ibrahim Mahama and the rest of the team involved in “In-Between the World and Dreams,” a U-M Humanities Institute project that was on view last fall at the U-M Museum of Art.

Join the Kelsey Museum’s virtual Saturday Samplers to enjoy the museum from home. The theme of this week’s tour is the Kelsey Museum’s excavations at Karanis, Egypt, in the 1920s and ’30s. Part two of this Zoom tour focuses on the temples and granaries uncovered in the excavations as well as their contents.

This weekly series takes place at 7 PM on Mondays from June 21 to August 9, featuring performers from Michigan and around the U.S. At Lurie Tower, Keiran Cantilina (McGaffin Carillon, Cleveland, OH) performs the sixth of our “7 at 7” Monday night carillon concerts. Bring your picnic blanket to the Eda U. Gerstacker Grove on North Campus!

Detroit’s most beloved free, global music festival will be a blend of live, broadcast and streamed events for eight exciting days.

Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch Summer Concert Series will return to Liberty Plaza after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The open air concerts at the corner of Liberty and Division are free to the public.
