About

This is where creativity comes to life

The University of Michigan has a rich history of supporting, creating and encouraging a culture of art. Along with the city of Ann Arbor, U-M offers a vast array of cultural attractions that enhance the lives of our students, alumni, faculty, staff and local and regional residents.

In every imaginable way

On our campus alone we have more than 20 libraries, several museums, more than a dozen art galleries and collections, many performing arts venues, a botanical garden and arboretum, public spaces, installations, performances and events, exhibitions, readings and recitations. We regularly host artists and performers from all over the world.

Transforming the landscape

Our top faculty and academic programs are not only highly regarded but also continuously pushing the envelope. There are also numerous interdisciplinary research projects and more than 200 student arts organizations and projects dedicated to promoting collaboration and developing creative solutions to address the world’s most pressing challenges.

Bringing communities together

The benefit of arts and culture at U-M spreads far beyond our campus. Just about all of our attractions and performances are open to the public. Many of them are free. There are also many events—Festifools, Art Fairs, Summer Festival, school programs—where we regularly engage and collaborate with the community.

We encourage you to make the most of these resources and come experience them yourself!
