Check out the Arts at Michigan downtown murals!

In November of 2005, Arts at Michigan completed a mural project in downtown Ann Arbor. This collaboration between the Main Street Area Association and Arts at Michigan provided University of Michigan art, engineering, and music students with the opportunity to create wall murals. The goal of this project was to expose the work of U-M students in collaboration with the community and to beautify Ann Arbor.

Check out pictures of the completed murals!

Who:

  • 15 University of Michigan engineering, art, and music students, including Belal El-Hibri, Laura Nichols, Michelle Bien, Mindy Steffen, Matt Endahl, Caitlin Shrestha, Brady Kinnen, Stephanie Jimenez, Sameer Kumar, Sophie Huet, and help from their friends Tao Sun, Kevin Hsieh, Christy, Laura, and Sean.

What:

  • Designed murals, painted, and wrote poetry on 9 stairwell walls to fit the theme of "elements" (fire, air/wind, light, earth, and water).

Where:

  • The parking structure on South 4th Avenue and East William Street in downtown Ann Arbor.

If you're interested in designing, painting, and/or writing poetry, stay tuned for more mural opportunities in the future!
