About The Hot 8 Brass Band

The Hot 8 Brass Band was formed in 1995 by the merging of two talented groups, the Looney Tunes and the High Steppers. There are currently nine men in the Hot 8, playing New Orleans brass band music in the traditional style, with original talent and innovative flourishes.

The members of the Hot 8 were all born and raised in New Orleans; many of them began playing together in High School. This new young band follows in the footsteps of groups such as the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Treme Brass Band, and the Rebirth Brass Band. Their talent and dedication are making them the pride of New Orleans.

The Hot 8 Brass Band has toured in Japan, Italy, France, Spain, Finland, England, and Sardinia. They play regularly at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival ("Jazz Fest"), the 102.9 FM Old School in The Park concerts, the Tipitina's Foundation Instruments A Comin' benefits, and have played in the Zulu Parade, San Antonio Zulu Association Festival, the City of New Orleans New Year's Celebration and Mo' Fest, Jollie's in Wisconsin, Milwaukee Brewhouse (Wisconsin), Milwaukee Street Festival, Coyote Ugly in Dallas TX, the Tom Joyner Morning Show, and were the first brass band to appear in a major music video (Mr. Marcello & Master P.).
