* ArtRide Project Awarded Golden Paintbrush
Arts at Michigan and the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) teamed up to bring you ArtRide. ArtRide consisted of a series of five exhibitions of U-M student artwork onboard AATA buses running from February 2004 to September 2004. Each on-board bus exhibition featured work by four (4) student-artists selected through a jury process and ran for six (6) weeks.
Medium:
Four posters (one for each artist) were mounted in the overhead signage area of all 82 of AATA's bus fleet. Each poster was 11" high x 17" wide and was printed using a 4-color digital process. The contents of the poster included a photograph of the artwork, a photograph of the student artist, and a brief artist statement.
Goal:
The overarching goal of this initiative was to strengthen and build meaningful interactions between U-M students and the Ann Arbor area community.
AATA and Arts at Michigan
The AATA provides transportation for both Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti residents (AATA statistics about it's riders). Arts at Michigan works with students in over 150 different U-M arts clubs and groups, offering guidance, access to performances, and professional development opportunities. Arts at Michigan and AATA see this project as an exciting way to showcase the talents of the broad spectrum of U-M students to the community.
