About the exhibition:
Our Body: The Universe Within will expose the inner workings of human anatomy by presenting actual human specimens, anatomical displays, reproductions of historic anatomical artwork and much more. By presenting an artful, compelling and dignified environment, guests will connect with the human artifacts on a personal level that will help them to better understand their own bodies.

The exhibit literally, as well as figuratively, goes "under the skin," exposing the intricacy of the human body and allowing the general public a look at what only doctors and scientists normally are allowed to see first-hand. The exhibit will showcase specimens preserved through a polymer impregnation process that replaces fluids with polymers that prevent decay and decomposition.

The exhibit shines a light on the alluring mystery of the human body through the presentation of these fascinating specimens combined with an inspirational and educational message. By highlighting anatomy studies over the past 1,000 years, guests will see how the body’s beautiful complexity has influenced generations of artists and scientists.

The exhibit's cutting-edge MicroWorld display features intensely magnified images of healthy and diseased skin, organ and cell samples. Visitors can investigate the microscopic forces that impact our health and discover the surreally artistic effect achieved by viewing these samples under extreme magnification.

IMAX Dome Theatre: The Human Body
The Detroit Science Center's cutting-edge IMAX® Dome Theatre screen is three and one-half stories tall, sixty-seven and one-half feet in diameter and incorporates the most advanced projection and sound systems available in the world. The IMAX® Dome experience wraps sight and sound around you like an astounding "techno-blanket," and allows you to truly experience film. One doesn't just "watch" a movie in the IMAX® Dome Theatre; it's a revolutionary sensory celebration.

The Human Body: Using innovative filmmaking techniques, combined with the latest medical and scientific imaging, The Human Body shows us the ordinary miracles that keep our bodies running at full steam from morning 'til night and the extraordinary marvels of life.

Showtimes at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
