Arts at Michigan is pleased to present the following Culture Bus trip in collaboration with Celebration Dance Partners Detroit Opera House, University Musical Society and other Detroit organizations (Detroit Public Schools, Wayne State University, Oakland University, Charles H. Wright, Museum of African-American History, Detroit Windsor Dance Academy, and Joint Cities Development Corporation).
Based in San Francisco, Alonzo King's LINES Ballet will present Before the Blues with choreography by Mr. King, and in collaboration with legendary musician/composer Pharoah Sanders. The work will weave rare, un-produced field recordings with live music, as well as vivid imagery from actual photographs and film, to enliven audiences to the era of post-African, pre-spiritual sounds called "Pre-Blues."
Following the performance, we will make a stop in Greektown for dinner. Cost of dinner is not included in the price of the ticket.
