"Latin Jazz: La Combinacion Perfecta/The Perfect Combination"

This bilingual multimedia exhibition is a rich musical journey through the history of Latin jazz in the United States and the Caribbean. Using maps, audio-visual stations, vintage film footage, oral history interviews, documents, photographs, and musical scores, the exhibition explores the music, origins, cultural elements, instrumentation, and major figures of this genre. Visitors old and young will enjoy creating their own Latin jazz sound on the many instruments available in the musical hands-on room. Also learn while watching an instructional video featuring drummer/percussionist Bobby Sanabria as he navigates visitors through the variety of instruments and demonstrates basic techniques and rhythms.

Kalamazoo Art Institute is also within 3 blocks walking distance to the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.
