Arthur Mitchell's mandate to express the unconquerable human spirit through dance is as relevant today as it was in 1968, when he and his mentor, the late Karel Shook, founded the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Boasting an impressive repertoire of more than 125 works, this multicultural, neoclassical ballet company has circled the globe, leaving audiences awestruck by the perfection of its dancers. Dance Theatre of Harlem is well known for the use of multiple dance forms including classical ballet, modern dance styles such as jazz, tap and social dance as well as ethnic dance traditions from around the world.
