The Arab American National Museum collects, documents, and preserves objects that help illustrate the Arab American experience. The permanent collection includes art, three-dimensional artifacts, documents, personal papers, and photographs that were created, owned, or primarily used by Arab Americans, or that illustrate the Arab American experience. Almost all of the objects in the permanent collection have entered or will enter the collection through the generosity of individuals and communities, making the collection truly reflective of the diverse lives and histories of Arab Americans.
Featuring the special exhibition:
Alya Husseini
Husseini uses her artwork as a vehicle to educate fellow Americans about Arab society and to depict the rich cultural heritage of the Arab world. She derives her inspiration from pictures in books and her travels to places like Syria, Morocco, Egypt, and Lebanon. Husseini uses oil and canvas to capture images of tree lined streets, historic houses and people in traditional dress. She is self-taught and has been painting since 1988.
